The auspicious occasion began with the Quran recitation. Then the student council marched crisply as they were led by the Senior Head Boy and Senior Head Girl towards the stage. The student council conquered the stage with assurance and pride. The school Principal presented our Senior Head Boy and Girl with badges and sashes and led them into the oath taking ceremony.

The rest of the council members were presented with badges and sashes by our Vice Principal. Then the house masters and mistress handed over the house flags to their respected house captains. The Senior House Boy and Senior House Girl let the rest of student council into oath taking. On 22 May 2017, Grades 6-8 students from Credence High School went for an educational and historical importance trip to ‘Saruq-Al-Hadid Archaeology Museum’. The expected outcome was to acquaint the students with the local surroundings and understand its historical roots.

Students were distributed in two groups and were taken around the museum as well as for a video tour alternatively. They were excited to see the recent discoveries and were surprised to learn about the existence of UAE, even in Stone Age. Students were also able to see many gold replicas of Expo Logo and could relate to it after the trip.

After the session, our students also got the opportunity to venture as archeologists in a specially designed area for the students within the museum. Wherein, they searched, ‘explored’, and found various artifacts, posing to be archeologists!

It proved to be an enriching experience for all our students, which will be carried forward in the Social Studies and Science projects.

The five fun-filled zones at ‘Little Explorers’ were really purpose-driven, with activities created to develop certain skill where children are the key players. KGI, KGII and Grade 1 students took part in experiments that built awareness of their own social identity.

KG - Kids visited the doll house, the mirror maze, observed the functioning of their own heart and lungs in the body, water games, building house with foam bricks and then finally an interactive session on 'five senses' where the kids happily painted a handcrafted ‘hand palm’ which offered a fascinating, unique and varied experience allowing kids to build their social and individual identities. The kids explored and the teachers discovered that the little ones spent the day learning new skills, having lots of fun and making some great friends in the process. At little Explorers, curiosity is rewarded and children can learn about the world around them by interacting with their surroundings. Each area taught the children one different skill and discipline. Each Zone also exercised their body and mind and fostered cognitive learning. It enhanced their thought process and stimulated their quest for knowledge too.

Grade 1 - Students of Grade 1 were excited and could not contain their emotions of happiness and glee as they geared up to go to Little Explorers. Little Explorers is an exciting mix of education and entertainment for children from the age of two to seven, with a focus on learning and acquiring skills in a fun and safe environment.

The students were thrilled by the very thought of riding together with their classmates and teachers in the bus. There was cheer and laughter when we arrived at Little Explorers. The place offers many hands on activities for each and every student to explore and discover different resources. A workshop on life cycle of a butterfly was held. Students made beautiful butterflies.  Next, we headed to the obstacle course and balancing steps. The obstacle course was fun as children moved forward and backward on the circuit. Then, it was time to move on to a very interesting activity called ‘skeleton on bike’. Children wanted to ride the bicycle and see their skeleton appear. The more energy they put in riding the bike, the better was the result.

We moved on to the x-ray machine wherein one could see the film – body parts and also could hear the heartbeat and learn functions of internal organs. This was very engaging. It was a wonderful experience – fun, thrill, enthusiasm and excitement – all put together at one place.

Parents of KG I and II along with their children organized the ‘Lemonade and Bake-a-sale Day’ for all the students of Credence High School on 18 May 2017. Preparations started a day before by children of KG who went inviting staff members and students of other classes for the event. The Cafeteria looked celebratory, parents and teachers enthusiastically decorated every corner of the cafeteria.

Stalls were set up by parents with the help of teachers and they sold lemonade (there will be different flavours of lemonades) and baked items (chicken samosa, chicken cutlet, croissant, cheese sandwich, pastries, donuts and basbousa). Lemonade was sold for 1 dirham and baked items will be sold for 2 dirhams. There will also be packets of baked items sold for 4 dirhams per pack. Children came enthusiastically to purchase delicious food items and drink yummy lemonade. Children not only purchased for themselves but also bought packed baked food to carry home for their loved ones. Everyone enjoyed the homemade delicacies.

This was a fun entrepreneurial experience for our students; they attained business and financial skills. They learnt to manage money, make a choice about what to buy and also learnt that by buying they will be contributing towards a good cause. By teaching key analytical skills, financial literacy and decision making, we attempted to foster self-esteem and new mindsets that can drive students to success. Our mission is to help students become business leaders, social advocates, community volunteers and forward-thinking individuals of tomorrow.  The Lemonade and Bake-a-sale Day was a huge success, every baked item and lemonade was sold out. The amount collected towards this sale day will be contributed towards charity.

Credence believes in inculcating values in its children, as we believe in creating global citizens with empathy for all. Every child needs to be guided to be good human being first. To help children grow with artistic sensitivity, Grade 6 students presented a special assembly on ‘Gratitude’ on 17 May 2017 in the school auditorium.

Senior students of the school planned the same day to be celebrated as SEWA DAY- A day to acknowledge and appreciate the support staff of the school. A circular requesting parent to donate useful items was sent few weeks in advance and grade 8 students managed collection drive for the same. Students were able to collect good quantity of variety of items, which they segregated and packed beautifully into goody bags for the support staff.

The assembly started with Quran recitation explaining importance of gratitude, followed by thought for the day emphasizing significance of gratitude in our lives. The ‘Teacher’s Talk’, highlighted importance of thankfulness to the support staff, this was followed by a beautiful video of our support staff working silently yet rigorously for the school. Followed was felicitation of the support staff, wherein our senior students handed over ‘Goody Bags’ to acknowledge contribution of support staff. The younger students who were the audience rejoiced, clapped and were happy to see their nannies, drivers, cleaners and gardeners on stage.

It was indeed heart touching to see our students acknowledging the support staff of the school.  This event turned into a memorable one and had a lasting impression on young minds.

We believe in the words of Picasso ‘every child is an artist’. Every child is gifted with imagination and imagination is the door of possibilities, this includes ingenuity, creativity and thinking outside the box. What better way to express a child’s imagination than in the form of art and craft. In this age of technology, art is of paramount importance. To help children grow with artistic sensitivity Credence High School invited schools of Dubai for the interschool ‘Art and Craft Fiesta’, for KG II and Grade 1 students. The event was held in the school auditorium and the theme was ‘Art – an expression of happiness’.

Students along with their children came from various schools, after registration they were divided into small groups monitored by a teacher. Then the process of learning and exploring began, children learnt from each other, they interacted, this brought out the best in them. They were artistic, creative and eager to learn different forms of art. Children were introduced to different kinds of art forms like pixel colouring, painting with sponge, collage making, fruit cover printing, seashell/pista shell painting and pointillism. The finished products were amazing as the children had let their imagination run wild to create absolute magic.

The schools that took part in the event were: Amled School, Delhi Private School, JSS Private School, New Indian Model School, Our Own High School, Shabari Indian School, Springdales School, The Indian High School and The Kindergarten Starters. All children came with a positive attitude and the willingness to learn. To us, every child was a winner. Participants were given certificates in the end. Parent volunteers pitched in too to make this event a huge success, they too marveled at the artistic talents of young minds. It was indeed a very successful event and a memorable one too.

TRIP TO GREEN PLANET- Grade 2 – Grade 5

Located at City Walk, The Green Planet recreates an exotic, sensory experience of travelling through a lush and verdant rainforest. Visitors can explore a range of striking landscapes from mysterious forest pools to tree top canopy platform, cliff-hanging gardens and waterfalls surrounded by living habitat, birds, butterflies and aquatic animals. It is built around the desire to contribute to environmental consciousness in the region. As part of this priority, The Green Planet will aim to not only impress students and teachers with a novel green oasis in the city, but at the same time ensure that they enjoy an up-close educational and fun experience.

The Green Planet educational trip was attended by students of Grade 2 to 5 on 14 May 2017. We were welcomed by warm smiles from the educators of the facility. A group photograph was taken to make this day more memorable. The students were segregated into four different groups. The educators led the students to each level of the rainforest. They learnt about each animal which live in each level as well as about the plants. They thoroughly explained about the different forest layers, that is the forest floor, the Middle layer and the Canopy.

‘Rainforest Relationships’ was the topic of discussion. Life in the rainforests is competitive and survival tough. Rainforest plants and animals have developed complex relationships with other species in order to survive this diverse environment. This visit gave students an opportunity to explore these complex relationships and learn about how working together is key to survival, while also getting to know the indigenous plants and animals.

The facilities possessed state-of-the-art technology and helped provide a comfortable yet

adventurous journey. It is an exceptional place to spend an hour or two and makes a great change from their visit to the mall. Not only is it a fun experience but also one that is educational and interesting, as we are invited to uncover the important role the rainforests play in the future of our planet.

Students this time were determined to give back to nature, every day they would come to school carrying recyclables (paper, plastic, glass bottles, aluminum cans and mobile phones) enthusiastically in order to contribute for this cause.

The campaign ran from 1 May 2017 to 11 May 2017 in the school, our senior children collected recyclables every day from all grades. On the last day children of Grade 6 to 8 along with their teachers sorted out all the recyclables during the value education class. The teachers spoke to them about the importance of recycle, reuse and reduce. Children learnt how to categorize recyclables, they also understood recycling in terms of everyday objects that they are already familiar with. All the recyclables were handed over to the Emirates Environmental Group, they were happy that our children participated actively and that the whole campaign received such a positive response. Students learnt that their social contributions have positive effects on the community as a whole.

Hence, every student of Credence was involved in this charitable act wholeheartedly. Teachers told the students about the importance of Mufti Day and charity during their classes. They also showed them videos on less privileged people around the world. All staff members led by example, as they too contributed towards Mufti Day. At Credence we took the first step this academic year in helping our children make generosity a habit without expecting anything in return.
