      QURAN RECITATION COMPETITION-GRADE 2 TO 8

The Holy Quran is Allah’s message to human beings. In the Quran, Allah talks to us, and tells us how to live our lives, so that we are successful in this world as well as hereafter. The Quran is the most important book for a Muslim. The holy Prophet(s) says, the best remembrance is the [recitation of] Quran. He also says the best of speech is the Book of Allah. A believer should try to spend some time each day reciting the Quran, and understanding the message that Allah has given him.

To make our students memorize the Qur’an Suwar with correct Tajweed and Mukharij, The Islamic Education Department organized the Quran Recitation Competition on 24 September 2017 for Grade 2 to 8 students. All students were given a fair chance to qualify, performance being rated on the number of correct Tajweed. Students participated with great enthusiasm. Fire drills are an important part of our fire safety procedures for many reasons. Not only do they ensure that all students, staff and visitors to your premises understand what they need to do if there is a fire, but they also help you to test how effective your fire evacuation plan is. At Credence High School we care about the safety of our students and staff, hence a mock drill was conducted with the help of Dubai Police and Civil Defence. It is an initiative to help our students not to panic, but do the right thing as taught in times of emergencies. We had a mock fire drill with instructions, step to step procedures to be followed and safety guidelines.

An alarm was rung. On hearing the fire alarm, students were instructed to leave the building in a single line and in a calm, orderly manner. Exit route was indicated by teachers and students were lead to a predetermined assembly point. Everyone descended by the stairs, lifts were not used. Children who were not in class were directed to the assembly point. An area outside the school premises is designated as an assembly point. Teachers took a roll call of their individual classes and one teacher – chief marshal was nominated to take the overall responsibility and see to it that all students are safe outside. The count at the assembly point was checked by our Principal with the attendance registers and visitors book to verify that everyone was out of the building.

One of our students volunteered to be the child who needed to be attended to incase he is trapped inside the building. He was rescued by the fire men and taken in an ambulance as part of the demo. By the end of the drill our students were well aware of what to do and what not to incase they face a fire emergency. Students and faculty learnt important life saving tips from the demo.

“Language is the road map of a culture. It tells you where its people come from and where they are going.”

Our language is the most important part of our being. It is important to learn other languages besides our own because it helps us to learn about other people and cultures. This fusion of languages was showcased by Grade 2 students through a Special Assembly ‘Mazeesh Importance of languages’. The students exhibit the amalgamation of different languages which is Hindi, French, English and Arabic through poem recitation and performing a dance on Arabic song. Students enthusiastically presented the assembly in the languages being offered at Credence High School.

It is always a pleasure when the experiences of an adult is shared with students. We were happy to have Ms. Sarika Sharma; parent of a Grade 2 student who spoke about importance of languages and how UAE has provided exposure to different languages to grow and flourish. The assembly was indeed a wonderful synthesis of different languages.
