"The greatest threat to our planet is the belief, that someone else will save it" - Robert Swan

One of the major global threats, faced by the living world today, is shortage of clean water. Progressive global development has taxed and depleted natural resources.

To make the young Credenians (Grade 2-8) realise the importance of conservation of water, an Awareness program was held at Credence High School, by the Department of Science on Monday 30th of May. The theme being – “Save water - Save tomorrow.”

The young minds brought forth their thoughts to life through drawing, poem writing and also by making colorful posters with slogans on it.

The event not only created awareness among the students of the school but also for all the members of Credence family – to work towards the sustainable goal of saving water for tomorrow's generations.

It is important to help shape children and young people’s understanding and attitude towards road safety, to help give them the best chance of keeping safe while they’re young and as they get older. Hence, we at Credence always try to incorporate road safety messages into lessons, activities, or assemblies.

On 23rd May’16 a special assembly was held on ‘Road Safety’. Prior to the special assembly, activities on the same topic ‘Road Safety’ were held from Grade 3 – 8 as follows:
          Grade III - POSTER MAKING.
          Grade IV - BANNER MAKING.
          Grade V & VI - JINGLES & POEM.
          Grade VII - SLOGAN WRITING.
Grade VIII - STORY BOARD / CARTOON CARICATURE

The assembly began with the Quran recitation, followed by a power point presentation on the various activities held on 9th of May to observe ‘Road safety Day’.

Later on, there was a presentation by Aster group on the same. They even organized a quiz for the children to evaluate their knowledge on road safety. The Dean, Ms. Pamela Ghosh, awarded the winners with prizes. The programme ended with all taking a pledge to follow ‘Road Safety Rules’ diligently.

“World through our eyes” – Every moment is some way or the other very special – a celebration. However, all these moments come and pass by. We the little Credenians see the world in a different hue, in a special shade. Our vision for the world is unique and special. We enjoy every moment of it. This is how we see this amazing world of flowers in the school campus. Sharing with you all the shades, from the slightest tinge to the deepest hues. And we love it the way it is.

On 19th May, students of grade 1 eagerly participated in the Math fashion show. When it comes to math, a good foundation is essential. With our fun math activities for kids, numbers become friends and the basic foundation for the subject is established at an early age.

Children were seen dressed up as shapes, signs, clocks, calculator etc. Some presented word problems and involved other children in the show, while some presented the circle and spoke about diameter and radius.

This activity helped the students in sharing and gaining knowledge from each other.

“Read not to contradict and confute; nor to believe and take for granted; nor to find talk and discourse; but to weigh and consider.”

“Reading makes a full man,” said English philosopher Sir Francis Bacon and no truer words were said than these. Reading nourishes the intellect and nurtures the imagination. There is nothing more relaxing and soothing than sitting in the corner of a room with a book in your hands. Without travelling, without even moving an inch, the reader is transported to a new world and is exposed to a new culture and new ideas.

Reading is a gift that not all inherit and therefore the Government of UAE’s initiative, to declare 2016 as the Year of Reading is a great idea. This initiative should open the hitherto closed door for many and make them aware of the extensive powers that reading has. Parents and teachers will have a major role to play and they will have to come up with enterprising ways to encourage and entice children towards reading.

Credence High School has stepped forward in pursuit of excellence with the DEAR programme. Every child in the class were immersed in reading our school library books. Children also learnt to share their storybooks with their friends. Drop Everything And Read is going to be an agenda of the school which will be followed twice every month.

                    INTERNATIONAL FAMILY DAY

Family plays an important role in transmission of the cultural traditions from one generation to another. It acts as an educative unit and a socio-cultural support. The importance of this aspect lies in the fact that children all over the world get their earliest instruction in the family beginning with language. A regular and close involvement between home and school is essential for the success of children during their school days.

An International Family Day event was organized in Credence High School by the grade 1 team on 15th May to celebrate the importance of families, people, societies and cultures around the world. Family members came together to spend quality time with their loved ones by participating in fun activities together.

Children enjoyed having lot of fun time with their parents learning and guiding them in the various activities held on the day. “It was fun, we laughed a lot, and I saw that together with my family we are capable of doing many things.” said a parent while another said, “I spent a lovely day with my little boy, I wish this day was celebrated more often.”

                      Mothers’ Day

“Of all the special joys in life, the big ones and the small, a mother’s love and tenderness, Is the greatest of them all.”

Moms are magnificent! To help celebrate all the things these wonderful women do, we at Credence invited all the mothers of Kindergarten to their child’s class on the occasion of Mothers’ Day. For us, Mothers’ day is always the most precious and memorable event.

Children sang a special song for their mum, which was followed by craft activity and games for both mother & child together. They had so much fun together and it was a pleasure watching them.

It was a day well spent and a memory to be treasured by mothers and the little Credenians.
