“Nobody cares how much you know, until they know how much you care.”

                                                                                                                                           -Therodore Roosevelt

The significance of giving back to the society is something that we understand, uphold and practice. ‘Ramadan’ – the holy month of prayers, fasting and sacrifice is here and it is incomplete without the humble act of ‘Giving’. As the entire UAE gets charitable this Ramadan, the students of Credence High School   also put their step forward to join in the spirit of giving by actively participating in the “We Care Drive” on 29th May 2018; an excellent medium to cultivate the habit of sharing in young minds. They lent a helping hand by giving away ‘Care Packages’ to 288 working ladies who stay at the ladies labour camp in Al Quoz.  The ladies come from 6 different nationalities such as Filipino, Indian, Sri Lankan, Nepalese, Cameroon and Ethiopian. They are cleaners working in various malls, schools, offices, etc. in shifts to earn their living and sacrifice a lot, staying away from their families in order to provide their loved ones with a better life.

Our visit commenced with lovely greetings by the camp boss who was overwhelmed and grateful to see students come in with care packages to help these ladies. The inmates were very hospitable and friendly and they welcomed us with their beautiful smiles.  The students felt happy to interact with them and complimented the ladies for all their hard work and sacrifice made for their families.  The children made them feel appreciated and special by lovingly distributing the care bags to them. They had a very insightful conversation with the ladies as they enquired about their life and experiences and also learnt how each job is important and respectful.  The visit ended on a lovely note, bringing smiles on their faces through this community outreach programme.

At Credence High School, we pledge to keep the spirit of giving going and encourage the students to do the same not just during Ramadan but throughout the year. Outreach activities such as these develop empathy, enhance the ethical reasoning among the students and help them to build their morale which shapes them into good individuals who care for the society.

Safety and security of our students is paramount to any school and is second to none, especially while travelling. A Demonstration on ‘Safety in Bus’ was organized for the students of Pre-KG to KG on Tuesday 22nd May 2018.

Important Bus guidelines on getting in and out of the bus in an orderly manner, sitting facing forward in correct posture with the seat belt on, The importance of being seated from the start of the journey to their destination, speaking softly, guidelines on emergency exit, first aid assistance and video camera for safety and security of the children on board was well demonstrated.  The children were taken on a pleasant ride offering them practical experience and practice the bus safety rules and guidelines.  As the bus moved the little children sang the song ‘The wheels of the bus go round and round’ and enjoyed the demonstration on the safety rules.

In our pursuit to excel in the safety and security of our students, activities such as these educate the children to be aware and practice safety and security from a very tender age. We believe in inculcating the safety guidelines among students and make them aware of the importance of safe travelling.

Lemonade and Bake-a-sale Day coinciding with Mother’s day, was held on 13th May 2018.  Parents as major stakeholders play an integral part in education. In an initiative at parent involvement, the Kindergarten and Grade 1 department invited parents to participate in the ‘Lemonade and Bake-a-sale Day’. Preparations started a week in advance where participating parents wholeheartedly dedicated their time and effort in planning the event, the menu and also in decorating the venue with the help of teachers.

Colourful stalls were set up by parents as they sold lemonade in varied flavours alongside baked items like brownies, cupcakes, cookies, banana bread, cutlets, sandwiches, mini doughnuts, corn/cheese balls and the quintessential biryani. Children visited the stalls with great enthusiasm to purchase delicious food items and the tasty lemonades. Everyone enjoyed the homemade delicacies. In Celebration of mother’s day, students of pre-kg to Grade 1 made key chains for their mothers and the little children greeting mothers at the lemonade and bake-a-sale venue and wished them happy mother’s day.

This was a fun entrepreneurial experience for our students; they attained business and financial skills. They learnt to manage money, make a choice about what to buy and also learnt the importance of contributing towards a good cause. By teaching key analytical skills, financial literacy and decision making, we attempted to foster self-esteem and new mindsets that can drive students to success. Our mission is to help students become business leaders, social advocates, community volunteers and forward-thinking individuals.

The Lemonade and Bake-a-sale Day was a huge success, every baked item and lemonade was sold out. The amount collected towards this sale day will be contributed towards Dubai Cares. Today’s event is dedicated to all the mothers and we wish them happy mother’s day. Our heartfelt gratitude to the parent volunteers for their wholehearted support and contribution towards the event! Thank you!!

Young minds are often intrigued by the concept of Science and innovation. Often, it propels them to shape the future of science and technology with their out-of-the-box ideas.

An inter-school Science competition- ‘Do it yourself (DIY) was held on Saturday 12th May 2018 at Ambassador School, Dubai. Our students from Grades 3, 4 and 5 participated in the event. It was an extempore competition where a topic and materials were provided on the spot. The students were asked to design a model of a hydraulic car and explain its functionality. The project enabled the young minds to present their innovative ideas and create a science model that highlighted their abilities to design, execute and describe the project without adult intervention bagging the first prize!

We believe in maximizing the use of resources within and outside the school. Inter-school competitions provide our students with wider grounds for learning. They also learn that teamwork and cooperation are important for them to be able to complete their tasks. Model making competitions engage the senses, imagination and creativity of the students. It is definitely a fun way of learning.

                Congratulations champions!!

"Mathematics is the language with which God wrote the universe."   Galileo

The Credence ‘Math Exhibition’ was organized by the Mathematics Department in association with the students on Thursday, 10th May 2018. Students from Grade 2-9 participated fervently contributing their innovative ideas. Parents of the participating classes were invited and were seen sharpening their mathematical acumen as they interacted and listened to the students.

The primary aim of this Exhibition was to give an opportunity to all students to work in collaboration with fellow students to showcase their talent and simultaneously understand the real life applications of mathematics. The students were divided into groups and each group was assigned a topic to work upon. They exhibited their projects and interacted with parents explaining the concepts, playing mathematical games with them and also rewarding the winners with mathematical game play. There was a spark of curiosity among the parents as they saw their children present the math ideas on various projects such as Addition Game, Age calculator, Math Struck , Mathopoly and Origami.

The Math exhibition aims at promoting the interest of students in learning mathematics and developing students’ generic skills through project learning. We believe when schools and parents work together, children succeed and creative pursuits such as these is key to helping children get motivated as we aspire to see the future super brains in them.

We thank The Mathematics Department and our students for their enthusiasm and contribution towards this fine event. A big ‘Thank You’ to the parents who took time off to participate and encourage our students!

                                                                                                    -Quran 2:45

A visit to any place of worship is a divine experience. Keeping in mind the onset of the holy month of Ramadan and to understand the local cultures and traditions better, a trip to the ‘Mosque’ in the neighborhood of the school was organized for the students of KG to Grade 9.

This field trip proved to be a day of engagement, interaction, enlightenment and education. Students witnessed the grandeur of the mosque and they explored and learnt about the Islamic traditions, Prayer timings, required manners in the Mosque, How many times do Muslims pray and who leads the prayer (IMAM), besides Namaaz and Quran teaching. Staff of the Islamic department and some Muslim students demonstrated the Islamic way of praying. They also spoke about the steps of preparation before the prayer (Salat).

Children were enthusiastic to know more about Islam and its practices and culture. They returned with smile on their face and expressed their happiness by saying “We really liked the Mosque it was very nice, we are very happy to see it".

We believe that education is brought to light by practical learning. Students learnt the importance of “Unity in diversity” and gained cultural knowledge. The visit also consolidated the meaning of community among our students.

We wish you a holy and blessed Ramadan!

“Good health and good sense are two of life's greatest blessings.”

                          -       Publilius Syrus

We all know the importance of cleanliness and personal hygiene in our day to day life. On May 2nd 2018; the school in association with ‘Care Direct – Dubai’; a health organization approved by the DHA, conducted Heath Education program on Hand Hygiene, Personal Hygiene and skin care to generate awareness of clean and healthy living .

The Hand Wash health program - “My heath is in my hands” was held for the students of KG 1 to Grade 1, the little ones learnt about the basics of heath and how the invisible germs can cause illness. The awareness to maintain a good personal hygiene and lifestyle was shown to them through a short animated story. A Questionnaire round on ‘what are germs’ and ‘how to prevent them’ was discussed and students actively participated and put forth their innocent queries. Hand washing techniques were practiced by children followed by the hand washing song, which was sung to the foot tapping music. Students were also offered reading material on effective ways of hand wash and colorful stickers on pictorial depiction of it.

Personal Hygiene Program –“#Girls can face anything” and skin care health program – “Beauty begins with healthy skin” was conducted for the pre-teen girls of Grade 5 to 9. Topics such as personal hygiene, state of adolescence, skin care and how to cope up with the issues and remedies were clearly explained through an educative presentation. Our pre-teen students expanded their knowledge by effectively posing and clearing their queries. Students were also offered a complimentary kit and reading material on effective ways of personal hygiene and skin care.

Heath programs are essential to develop consciousness on healthy habits as it aids children in comprehending the significance of a healthy lifestyle. We believe that “A Healthy Mind resides in A Healthy Body” and together we will have a healthier and happy school.
