“Knowing the culture of the United
Arab Emirates”
Intent: Emirati club offers a variety of
activities to the students from grade 1 to 5. In line with the co-curricular
activities this club provides an opportunity to the students to learn beyond
their curriculum. It was designed to spread the awareness about the Emirati
culture amongst the students. It also gives an opportunity to the children to
enjoy the various clubs’ activities such as Dance, music, art etc. The other
clubs are the ‘Aman’ club, the ‘Marhaba’ club, the ‘Infinity’ club and the
‘Well-being’ club. These clubs promote Islamic and Emirati culture and also
reflects the values of the late Shaikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who strongly
encouraged the children to pursue education, achieve their goals and contribute
to the UAE’s development journey.
Experience: The activities of the various clubs during their classes
engaged children completely.
Aman Club- Learning Objective: to ensure others are
safe from your tongue and hand.
Activity:
students prepared small
booklet on peace and expressed their support in maintaining the peaceful
coexistence in UAE.
Marhaba
Club- Learning Objective: to identify the Arabic conversation commonly used in
UAE. (fil madrasa)
Activity: students experienced basic
conversation phrases and talked in arabic on the theme fil madrasa and fil
hadeeqa
Art & Culture Club- Learning
Objective: To learn free hand painting, To develop eye hand co-ordination.
Activity: Children will be painting newspaper roll by
using U.A.E colours. Children will make ready colourful painted flowers.
Learning outcomes: To be able to do free hand painting independently.
Infinity Club- Learning Objective: To be able to,
create a Dubai Frame using 2D shapes and waste materials.
Activity: Children used Recycling (Materials) like newspaper,
thermacol etc, and made the Dubai Frame. They cut the waste paper
into 2d shapes and colored and pasted it on the frame and made Dubai frame.
Wellbeing Club- Learning Objective: To be able to identify the Logo of the year of
Tolerance.
Activity: The students drew the logo of the year of the tolerance and did
Thumb painting. They further wrote what each leaf in the picture symbolizes and
spoke about it.
Dance Club- Learning
Objective: 1. Develop a greater Understanding of UAE culture. 2.Students
will interpret the basic tradition dance of UAE culture.
Activity: The students became confident dancers. The students could
improvise meaningful Emirati dance. The children learnt the Arabic dance form
called ‘’ AL AYALA’’.
Science and technology- Learning Objective: To introduce
the satellites launched by UAE.
Activity: With the help of some videos and pictures teachers explained
the concept of satellites to the students. Later as a example the teachers
introduced the satellites launched by UAE.
Insight: The Emirati culture was well
explained through these clubs and its activities.
