The students of Credence high school from Grade 1 along with 1,000 students from 80 different schools united to celebrate the UAE National Sports Day to honour Sheikh Zayed. Hosted by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA), the Sports day walk was a 15km relay across the city; starting from Etihad Museum to Umm Suqeim Park.
The students of credence walked the wave 2 comprising of 2.5 km from Mercato Mall to Dubai Ladies Club. At around 9am on Wednesday morning, cars came to a slow crawl along the parts of Jumeirah beach road as 1,000 dedicated students walked the streets in honour of the founding father's vision. It was a remarkable moment to watch our energetic young credenians being a part of the hundreds-strong crowd walking their first leg of the relay and being a part of the first-ever torch relay. They also donned caps and t-shirts bearing the face of the Sheikh Zayed to honour the positive values he left behind. It was a proud moment for Credence High School to hold the torch relay with Dr Abdulla Al-Karam, Director General of KHDA; speaking about the day he said “This year's UAE Sports Day is an exceptional event as it coincides with the Year of Zayed".
The UAE National Sports Day marked a national event with great positive impact at the social, sports or heritage levels. This event encouraged the school community to come together and celebrate the day with the values of wisdom left behind by Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Our students honoured the founding father's vision and his legacy by their dynamic walk; conveying a message to keep the nation fit and healthy.
